Members of the team set out on a Promotional roadshow and visited two schools, Templecarraig Community School, Greystones and an All Girls Secondary School called Our Lady's , Templeogue.
We had gained a lot of confidence in speaking from our primary school talks. Therefore, we felt we were ready to go to a higher level. We were extremely glad to receive an invite from one of our own, Ms Mcnelis who currently teaches in Templecarraig to talk to her students about CanSat and our CanSat experience. We encouraged them to take part in next year's competition. Harry Oke After the National Final one of our outreach goals was to promote CanSat with local Secondary Schools. We have gained so much from the experience and would love other pupils to experience the opportunity. This afternoon we visited an All Girls Secondary School called Our Lady's , Templeogue.
This was also very interesting and many girls were reassured that they could take part in a project like this and be successful. We were able to express that a project like this is worth a try. It goes beyond the technical part or electronics aspect of the project. The skills you gain from this are not only going to help you in this project but anywhere you find yourself in the future. Collaboration, Public speaking, Time Management and so much more. This helped us expand our Outreach program to the second level of education. Harry Oke Our second meeting was held during activities on Saturday Oct 22nd. The purpose of this meeting was to look at various social media apps to see how we could develop an online presence for our Project. This would also be used as part of our Outreach and Communication Program.
To kick off the meeting Jaime and Santigo gave a short account of their participation in the TY Academy as well as showing of their very nice hoodies!!! Following a short discussion we decided to set up a project Webpage, Instagram account, Facebook Page and Blog. This was a area in which most pupils felt comfortable and we successfully set all four up on the night.
