Although our parachute worked very well we decided to challenge ourselves by trying a new parachute design so we can apply a guided landing system.
Today we introduced 6th Class pupils to the Egg Drop Challenge. They all did an amazing job. Good luck!
Members of the team set out on a Promotional roadshow and visited two schools, Templecarraig Community School, Greystones and an All Girls Secondary School called Our Lady's , Templeogue.
We had gained a lot of confidence in speaking from our primary school talks. Therefore, we felt we were ready to go to a higher level. We were extremely glad to receive an invite from one of our own, Ms Mcnelis who currently teaches in Templecarraig to talk to her students about CanSat and our CanSat experience. We encouraged them to take part in next year's competition. Harry Oke After the National Final one of our outreach goals was to promote CanSat with local Secondary Schools. We have gained so much from the experience and would love other pupils to experience the opportunity. This afternoon we visited an All Girls Secondary School called Our Lady's , Templeogue.
This was also very interesting and many girls were reassured that they could take part in a project like this and be successful. We were able to express that a project like this is worth a try. It goes beyond the technical part or electronics aspect of the project. The skills you gain from this are not only going to help you in this project but anywhere you find yourself in the future. Collaboration, Public speaking, Time Management and so much more. This helped us expand our Outreach program to the second level of education. Harry Oke The Department of Technology and Psychology in IADT runs this annual event. The event is for transition year students, The students have been selected by IADT from a number of applications received. The participants have been given this opportunity on the basis of showing an active interest in creative media technologies, as well as on academic ability. The 3 day event involves a tour of the campus and national film school studios on Wednesday, and then a number of workshops in software, physical computing, digital fabrication and electronics. The event ends with a visit to Ashford Studios, the home of TV's 'The Vikings' as well as numerous other high-profile productions here and abroad.
Congrats to our winners from Whitechurch NS. Thanks to SMYTHS we were able to present them a 10 euro voucher. All the entries got books sponsored by OPEN MINDS. Thank you very much for all your amazing entries and we are looking forward to your egg drop challenge.
